INSOMNIA

Insomnia is diagnosed when daytime fatigue difficulty with concentration and poor mood are present and there is no indication of another disorder. They usually deny falling asleep unintentionally during the day. The Hallmark Signs and Symptoms is patients intense focus and anxiety regarding the inability to sleep or maintain sleep, and significant distress or impairment in social, occupational or other areas of functioning because of sleep disturbance.
People with insomnia feels fatigue (very tired) and looks haggard in appearance.
What would be your interventions to prevent insomnia. Here are some of my tips:

  1. Plan earlier exercise. Not 2-3 hours before going to bed because it will just add up another cause to your insomnia.
  2. Engage in a quiet and relaxing activity, like listening to soft music, taking warm bath, reading for pleasure, watch television.
  3. DO NOT EAT HEAVILY for several hours before retiring to bed.
  4. Avoid SPICY FOODS, ALCOHOL, CAFFEINE because this foods are stimulants. It just add up another  cause to your insomnia.
  5. Drink warm milk. Because milk contains tyramine that makes us fall asleep.
  6. Provide a cooler environment to enhance sleep. :)
