AIDS or Acquired immune deficiency syndrome is a disease of the human immune system caused by the human immunodeficiency virus. This condition progressively reduces the effectiveness of the immune system and leaves individuals susceptible to opportunistic infections and tumors. There are 33.3 Million as of 2009 living people with HIV/AIDS world wide.It is transmitted through direct contact of a mucous membrane or the bloodstream with a bodily fluid containing HIV, such as blood, semen, vaginal fluid and breast milk. This transmission can involve anal, vaginal or oral sex, blood transfusion, contaminated hypodermic needles, exchange between mother and baby during pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding or other exposure to one of the above bodily fluids.
I really dunno why does people are so excited to do things that is only being done by married couple. When I was in high school we have attended a seminar about STD's and AIDS/HIV, its objective is to gave us knowledge about those things. AIDS isn't a JOKE!. Until now AIDS doesn't have a cure, the medications just only help to stop the spread of the disease but not necessarily to cure. Its now PANDEMIC and you won't recognized those who acquires it or not. In our duty at different hospital as a nursing intern, we always practice STRICT ASEPTIC TECHNIQUE. STERILE to STERILE. That is for our protection and to the patient also and to prevent transfer of microorganisms.. We make sure that the instruments we will going to use is sterile and clean. I do not personally believe that using condom will be safe, I'd attended a bible study and our teacher their told us that it isn't 100% safe, you can till acquire a disease. That's only my opinion. For me the, the safest way is still ABSTINENCE.
So what will be the signs and symptoms of AIDS/HIV: The symptoms of AIDS/HIV are primarily the result of conditions that do not normally develop in individuals with healthy immune systems. Most of these conditions are infections caused by bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites that are normally controlled by the elements of the immune system that HIV damages. Opportunistic infections are common in people with AIDS. So opportunistic Infections, from the word itself opportunistic, the causative agents took advantage on your decrease level of immune system so you acquired an infection. Most of the patient who die with AIDS are primarily due to this complications and not merely on AIDS/HIV. People with systemic infections most likely to experience fever, swollen glands, weakness, headache, chills, nausea, diarrhea, Later signs and symptoms include weight loss, dry cough, sweats (especially at night), white spots or unusual blemishes on the mouth or in the throat, pneumonia, red, brown, pink or purple blotches under the skin, or inside the mouth, throat, nose or eyelids, memory loss, depression or neurological depression.
So, What would be the Prevention. First is Abstain, this is a very helpful way to prevent acquiring AIDS/HIV. Be Faithful, If you really love your partner you will not do things that can put your relationship at risk or even your health. Condomise, If you cant help it, use condom, atleast at that way you can still prevent your self acquiring the disease. Avoid sharing toothbrushes, razors or others. Exercise caution regarding procedures, such as acupuncture, tattooing, ear piercing, etc., in which needles or other non-sterile instruments may be used repeatedly to pierce the skin and/or mucous membranes.Such procedures are safe if proper sterilization methods are employed or disposable needles are used. Ask what precautions are taken before undergoing such procedures. Ask only license personnel to those kinds of procedures. Do not share needles.
